OUR PURPOSE

Irvington Food Forest was created in 2024 with the original idea to use some of the by-products of nature (mainly the tons of leaves thrown into the landfill each year) to create something useful in the form of nutrient-rich compost. The project quickly expanded but stayed true to that original principle of using waste, recycled, or under-utilized raw materials that could be transformed into more valuable products. As we develop and expand these "pilot programs", we hope to drive more community engagement in our natural surroundings and encourage active preservation in these unique resources.
